NetConfUY v2016 Experience
NetConfUY – Experience
In the last three days I was present at the NETConfUY , a series of workshops and conferences organized in Montevideo, Uruguay with assistance of consultants, developers, project managers and experts from different cities of the region and the world.
I understand that these types of cycles, and conferences are essential to the community, not only to keep abreast of the latest updates in technology also to share experiences on different projects, and stories from the direct hand of people who love and have passion for technology.
One of the exhibitions in which I was present was with Pablo Garcia who shared several projects involving Machine Learning and diverse technologies as well as the generation of algorithms and study cases with a lot of projection and impact on society, not only in Chile where lies his work also to the region and worldwide. One aspect of Pablos’s talk that left me thinking was the highlight which made reference to the importance of the multidisciplinary team which was working with him.
The different vertical in which he had had the opportunity to implement different projects such as: Mining, Agriculture, Telecommunications.
Another highlight: the collaboration with which today must work as a team, and integration between different systems, and no longer is to select a single branding but the integration between different systems (Hadoop, HDInsight, Azure, NVidia, R Servers among others).
Corporate Social Networks
Another exposures that I could attend, was dictated by a friend and colleague SharePoint MVP Fabián Imaz where the highlight was the integration, collaboration, management and exposure that today should have around Corporative Social Networks, and the approach that provides Office 365 regard this subject.
A turning point in the talk was the slogan of focusing on people within an organization, and how promptly Delve allows us to have a specific map information flow within a company. Highly recommended take a look at this component of Office 365 that is growing by leaps and bounds, and that will allow us undoubtedly increase productivity, not only at the organizational level but also on a personal level. Fabian has a high expertise in development within Office 365 and that is why the highlight of Delve into the suite becomes more than important since we are not only talking about SharePoint Online also the integration between the different components that make up Office 365 such as email, websites, presentations, documents, spreadsheets.
No Microsoft development platforms
To attend the talk of Juan Carlos Ruiz I was not sure what I would find. Expectations of seeing someone from the world of Microsoft tech and precisely from a Program Manager Evangelist talking about other systems and platforms that Microsoft were not caused intrigue me too much.
A paradigm shift. A point to note in this talk was how Microsoft some time ago has taken the step to independence of the system on which you work (Linux, Windows Server). Now the reasoning goes on consumption of the cloud platform, and services that are consumed in this cloud. We are no longer talking about Windows Azure as a while ago, we simply talk about Azure (without Windows). We run on heterogeneous systems Azure as happens in organizations, Linux, Oracle, MySQL, Python.
Precisely today we can run a SQL on Linux, we can have the ability to run Bash on Windows, use PowerShell scripts on Linux. Something that years ago was impossible even if we want to think about that. Integration is real, and possible!
Another highlight was the presentation in some capabilities of Visual Studio Code as multiplatform development environment (downloadable versions for Windows, Linux, Mac). The simplicity and flexibility in installation (basic installer only 30 Mb), and the opportunity for developers of different platforms can have a development environment ready to build applications in Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, PowerShell, Batch, SQL , typescript, C #, among others.
Today we are in a world of communities, and Microsoft is looking at the use of the cloud, and adding services to meet the needs of developers.
Power BI in Action!
Ok, our turn in the exhibition and we were teaching together with Bruno Torterolo and where we make a roadmap of how it had arisen Power BI as tools, benefits offered us, and the simple and fast way to integrate with a large number of information sources , generate a report and share it within our organization.
We note especially the great involvement and excellent communication that exists since Power BI emerged between the community and the technical team behind Power BI. The good thing is to expose new ideas in the form of functionalities and the community can vote for the development team capture the most voted, and see how each in few months will release new versions of the tool with many of these features that the community has voted.
In turn, it seemed appropriate to share different experiences of integration and reporting in different real cases, with customers with very heterogeneous vertical but with the same slogan to exploit the information from multiple systems with which today operate in different companies worldwide.
We turn to the DEMO we had prepared, and we achieved a good involvement of the audience with the slogan naming issue Tweets hashtags #NETConfUY and #PowerBIUY, and picking through integration between Azure services as Event Hubs, Stream Analytics, console application and generating a direct output to a dataset to finish creating a Dashboard that would reflect the information of LIVE tweets generated during the talk.
We hope we have achieved the impact arouse the curiosity of the audience on the tool, and that with the desire to download, begin to integrate with different sources of data, and generate reports simply, and quickly and with great core impact.
Hope to see you soon in the next post!
