Some time ago I have made this consultation on several occasions.
That is why the subject in this article is going to have a macro level vision and not focusing my attention on the Power BI tool and started making some draft document of governance. For this reason I took several cases to experience what BI projects concerned and with different approaches according to various organizational structures. Regarding this approach, we will see that in corporations today, different BI projects arise from the same impulse that makes business scope, and in other cases projects will be generated from the area of technology.
One point to note, and I think a pillar, and the fact that every successful BI project , has had at one time with the support and joint efforts of the Department of Information Technology, and from the Core Business. This communion is what defines not only the project itself is classified as successful, but what they generate, and in this sense is the structure and processes of implementation of Business Intelligence projects.
In the case of Power BI, usually all comes from a prototype, which is obviously ideal for validating certain requirements, and possible implementation using the tool. The functional validation must be performed by business partners.
